DotnineEdition v1.8 is released based on Pidgin 2.10.0 (Changelog) which includes some security fixes. It is recommend to update to Pidgin 2.10.0.

DotnineEdition already includes the SingleClick hack v1.2 (for Pidgin 2.10.0) .

The released version 0.7 of the singleclick hack fixes a problem with minimized conversation windows. If the new message notification in the system tray was clicked, a minimized conversation window was not unminimized. Only the notification icon in the tray disappeared. It seems to be a general Pidgin bug under windows.

The new v0.7 of the singleclick hack is already included in Pidgin 2.7.3 – DotnineEdition v.1.1 (released today). This is also the only change from version 1.0.

A new version of the windows singleclick hack for pidgin 2.7.3 is released.

• Single click on the pidgin system tray will open/close the buddy list like a double click
• Single click on the pidgin system tray will close the buddy list if already focused or on top (full visible)
• If the buddy list is hidden by another window, a single click on the system tray icon will bring it to the top

The hack is compatible with pidgin 2.7.3 for windows, standard or portable.

Pidgin 2.7.2 is released with several stability fixes.

AIM and ICQ

• Fix a crash bug related to X-Status messages that can be triggered by remove users.
• Fix a rare crash bug caused by certain incoming SMS messages.
• Change HTML sent from ICQ accounts so that official ICQ clients hopefully display it correctly.

MSN

• Fix a crash related to fast buddy icon transfers.

In their third try it seems that the developers were able to finally fix the ICQ html send bug.

But, what’s new in the DotnineEdition release? Beside some little changes in the default settings, two “new” plugins made it in the preconfigured pack.

The new version is downloadable over the Pidgin – DotnineEdition page or directly here. This version includes the single click hack/improvement for Pidgin.

As you can see, Miranda IM – DotnineEdition is on ice. The problem is, that OTR and some other relevant plugins are not working well since newer protocol/core versions and they will be not updated soon.

The other point is, that Pidgin seems quite easier to configure and for me much more stable. There are also no database integrity problems as everything is saved into XML files. Some Plugins will be missed in Pidgin if you come from Miranda IM. There are also less plugins available and sometimes hard to find.  But Pidgin have a really good API documentation, which should make it easy to create them by yourself. I created the autohide and scroll to bottom plugin to get my basic functionality used under Miranda IM. Another point I really missed was the single click behaviour from Miranda IM. For Pidgin you have to double click on the system tray icon to show the buddy list. Therefore I created a single click hack to make it behave like Miranda IM under Windows.

Autohide

• Autohide buddy list if out of focus for a specified time
• Make buddy list always on top, also if not focused
• Remove the maximize/minimize buttons of the buddy list

Scroll to bottom

• Scrolls chat history of created conversation windows automatically to the bottom

Single click hack

• Single click on the pidgin system tray will open/close the buddy list like a double click
• Single click on the pidgin system tray will close the buddy list if already focused or on top (full visible)
